The government of Uganda through Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and NAADS programme has donated 5 TAFE tractors, 5 Agromaster disc ploughs, 5 Disc Harrows to boost the livelihoods of house of bishops. This comes at a time when the government moves to employ agro-mechanisation as a tool for complete diversification of the agriculture sector in Uganda.
Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries in his opening remarks thanked the government under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for embracing its mandate and vision of empowering Ugandans through agro-mechanisation.
Hon. Frank promised to support the religious institutions through soliciting for finances to fund their activities without delay. He also added that, that all the other dioceses that have not yet received tractors will be supported within a period of 2 to 3 years.
His Grace, The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Dr. Kazimba Samuel Mugalu welcomed the support from government and indeed pledged to continue preaching the right gospel that includes; feeding the poor, which is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
The government of Uganda has continuously supported the Ugandan farmer groups and other cooperatives with equipment as a way of eradicating poverty from their regions and to promote self-sustenance.
Through her partners, Engineering Solutions Uganda Limited; the operators are provided with extensive training on operations of the equipment. This is supposed to eliminate the chances of misuse of the equipment being given out by government and yet primarily, it is geared towards improving lives. Through this programme, many communities have benefited in the measures the different agencies have put aside to help with streamlining the food basket of the country, but also enhancing the commercial sense. We have seen organized groups being able to take their children to school, acquiring confortable shelter for their homes among others.
Much as this has had its positives, as service providers we are working with the government agencies in ensuring that there is total compliance and excellent management of these equipment to allow every one benefit.
These Retail customer Engagement programmes have touched areas in the Western, Northern, Eastern and Southern Parts of this country and transformative leadership towards agriculture is now being realized collectively. Gone are the days, when ploughing an acre of land required about 10 people. Now, all you need is about Eighty thousand Uganda Shillings and you have it all done. It is now more time saving and yet the productivity of the projects is really high.
As key players in the agro mechanisation, we pledge to constantly provide all the necessary after-sales support required by our customers; availing spare parts and technical advice required by the farmers.
